After dinner, Will helped his mom with the dishes before giving her a kiss on the cheek. “It was great, as usual. Thanks for being so welcoming to Eric.”

“I like him. I can’t understand how a mother could turn her back on him,” his mom said.

“Me either, but he seems to be adjusting. I don’t think they were close to begin with, which hopefully will make the transition easier for him.” Will hung the dishcloth on the handle of the stove. “We’re gonna take off.”

“Keep him safe,” his mom reminded.

“Always.” Will left the kitchen in search of his dad and Eric. He found them in the garage drinking beer.

Eric looked guilty as Will took in the scene, but Will decided to let Eric off the hook. “You know, this is the only room of the house my mom allows alcohol,” he told Eric.

Eric brightened. “Yeah, that’s what your dad said.”

Will looked around the large two-car garage. Although one bay held his mom’s small sedan, his dad opted to park his truck outside so he could use his half for a makeshift man cave. The space had been kept relatively the same since Will was a kid with the exception of the couch. About every six or seven years, his mom ordered a new sofa for the living room and the old one always managed to wind up in the garage. The old green vinyl recliner was the same, but Will doubted his dad would ever part with the damn thing.

“Ready to go?” Will asked.

Eric sat up a little straighter. “Oh, sure, let me call Becket.”

“No need. I’ll give ya a ride.” Will hoped to give Eric the ride of his life once they got back to his place, but he didn’t want to push.

Eric finished his beer before going straight to the recycling bin and tossing it in, leading Will to the assumption that it wasn’t his first. “Thank you for a great evening, Mr James.”

Will’s dad shook Eric’s offered hand. “Come back anytime.” He looked at Will and grinned. “With or without my son.”

“Will do,” Eric said after chuckling.

Will leant down and kissed his father’s forehead. “See ya later, Dad.”

“Drive safe,” his dad said as they left via the garage door.

Eric climbed into Will’s short-bed pickup and was in the process of buckling his seatbelt when Will climbed in. “I like them.”

“Yeah, they’re pretty great. I know I’m one of the lucky ones.” Before putting on his seatbelt, Will leant over and kissed Eric. It didn’t last as long as the one earlier in the evening, nor was it as intense, but it still made Will’s cock take notice.

“Take me to somewhere where we can be alone,” Eric whispered against Will’s lips.

“I’m taking you home with me,” Will answered. He gave Eric another soft kiss before pulling back. “I may not be able to take you out, but as long as we’re careful, I see no reason why we can’t spend time together.”

“What about the case?”

Will buckled his seatbelt and put the sedan in reverse.
